Toyota reintroduces the Land Cruiser for the 2024 model year, giving enthusiasts a smaller variant that competes with SUVs like the 2024 Jeep Wrangler and Ford Bronco. The 2024 Land Cruiser ditches Toyota’s 5.7-liter V8 in favor of a new turbocharged 2.4-liter iFORCE MAX hybrid system. It also ditches the three-row cabin in favor of a smaller, feature-packed two-row cabin.
While the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser is nothing like its immediate predecessor, it goes back to its roots, reintroducing the boxy design with aggressive external touches like round headlights and an iconic “TOYOTA” heritage grille.
10 Competitive Towing Capacity
The 2021 Toyota Land Cruiser had an impressive towing capacity of 8,100 pounds. It had a potent 5.7-liter V8 engine and a reliable platform, helping it compete with rivals like the Ford Expedition and Chevrolet Tahoe. For the 2024 model year, the Land Cruiser shrinks and uses a smaller engine, resulting in a lower towing capacity of 6,100 pounds.

Despite having 2,000 pounds less than its predecessor, the 2024 Land Cruiser outcompetes rivals like the Ford Bronco and Jeep Wrangler, which have a meager towing capacity of 3,500 pounds. The 2024 Land Cruiser manages this thanks to a stronger TNGA-F platform and a potent iFORCE MAX hybrid powertrain.
9 Rugged Land Cruiser Exterior
The 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser goes back to its origins, featuring boxy and aggressive looks like its predecessors. It utilizes the TNGA-F platform, which allows for more rigidity compared to the 200 Series. In addition, the 2024 Land Cruiser is narrower and shorter than the 200 Series, making it a more off-road capable SUV that can rival the Ford Bronco and Jeep Wrangler.
The base 2024 Land Cruiser gets iconic round LED headlights and a “TOYOTA” heritage grille. The Land Cruiser trim gets slim rectangular headlights reminiscent of the FJ62. All trims get a squared body profile that resembles classic Land Cruisers. They also get a pushed-back A-pillar that complements the look while offering better outward visibility.
8 Competitive Toyota Warranty Coverage
For the 2024 model year, Toyota upgrades its warranty offering to give the Land Cruiser owners peace of mind. The 2024 Land Cruiser gets an impressive three-year or 36,000-mile limited warranty, a five-year or 60,000-mile powertrain warranty, an eight-year or 100,000-mile hybrid warranty, and a ten-year or 150,000-mile battery warranty.

7 Off-Road Capable Land Cruiser TNGA-F Platform
The Land Cruiser has long been an off-road icon. The new 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser continues this legacy thanks to the brand’s capable TNGA-F platform. The 2024 Land Cruiser gets an all-new front stabilizer bar disconnect as standard that helps increase flex at the push of a button.
The TNGA-F platform also helps ensure that the 2024 Land Cruiser can survive the harshest of environments. This platform is a ladder frame chassis that easily allows for more rigidity, unlike in the 200 Series models. The platform also uses high-strength steel with blanking and laser welds.
6 Better Fuel Efficiency Rating
The 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser uses Toyota’s new iFORCE MAX hybrid powertrain. The system is available as standard on all trims, and it includes a turbocharged 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine and a 48-hp electric motor. This system works with an 8-speed automatic transmission sending power to all four wheels.
The new iFORCE MAX hybrid system will offer an impressive estimated combined fuel economy of 27 mpg. A notable improvement over the predecessor’s EPA estimate of 14 mpg combined. That’s also a better fuel economy rating than the 2023 Jeep Wrangler, which gets 22 combined mpg with its turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine.
5 Revised Land Cruiser Interior
While the 200 Series was a three-row SUV, the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser only offers two rows of seats. It boasts a spacious five-seat cabin with impressive attention to detail. While the base trim doesn’t include many luxuries, it offers some niceties, including a heated steering wheel, heated seats, and a six-speaker stereo system.
The 2024 Land Cruiser also gets a smart key system with a push-button start as standard on all trims. Toyota also offers a subscription-based Remote Connect that offers a digital key that’s compatible with smartphones. All these features help the 2024 Land Cruiser compete with the Jeep Wrangler and Ford Bronco. While the Land Cruiser can’t offer an open-air experience, it features better innovations than the Bronco and Wrangler.
4 New Toyota Infotainment System
The base 2024 Land Cruiser 1958 trim boasts an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The system runs Toyota’s latest Audio Multimedia system that supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
