After all, ‘classic’ impressed fashions are all the trend within the hi-fi trade no less than, so who can blame REL for becoming a member of the celebration with a subwoofer that is described as ‘a symphony of mid-century attraction and state-of-the-art expertise’?
Ten’s a lot
With its price ticket of £1,299, the Basic 98 is not one of many firm’s top-tier fashions, and that is mirrored in its use of a 10in driver. Down-firing, however lifted off the ground by the subwoofer’s 4 toes, this paper cone woofer is pushed by a 300W Class D amp – not the Class A/B unit some may need been anticipating given the sub’s ‘golden age of hi-fi’ aspirations.
As normal for REL, there are each high-level and low-level/LFE inputs out there, mounted on a again plate subsequent to crossover and stage controls. The Basic 98 may also be used with the corporate’s non-obligatory AirShip II and HT-Air MkII wi-fi adapters.

As for the retro look, REL has completed the subwoofer’s 470mm-high, 18.1kg cupboard in a walnut veneer, all the higher to match your set of classic standmount audio system.
