Pennsylvania Congressman Dan Meuser, an ally of former President Donald Trump, is formally a candidate for speaker of the U.S. Home of Representatives.
Meuser’s identify was on a listing of 9 candidates for the job posted on Xpreviously often called Twitter, by Rep. Elise Stefanik, the Home Republican Convention chair. The Republicans had till midday Sunday to declare their candidacies.
Immediately at midday was the deadline for introduced candidates for Speaker.

Meuser, 59, lives in Luzerne County and represents the ninth Congressional District, which incorporates Schuylkill and a part of Berks counties. In a textual content message final week to The Scranton Instances-Tribune, Meuser stated he would seemingly search the job if Jim Jordan’s bid for the job fell via.
Republicans on Friday dropped Jordan as their nominee after he didn’t get nearly all of votes wanted for the third time.
Meuser first hinted at searching for the job in an interview with Nationwide Assessment On-line final Tuesday after the primary vote on Jordan.
“Are you kidding? If we return to it, I’m contemplating it as a result of I’m not gonna let this kindergarten proceed. I’ll do it,” Meuser instructed the publication.
Home Republicans are set to reconvene Monday, and can maintain a 3rd discussion board for speaker candidates.
