Shure has launched a compact USB interface for those looking to quickly adapt their favorite XLR microphones to their computer for recording, streaming, podcasting, and more. It is the new Shure MVX2U USB Interface and it is as simple as a USB cable with a female XLR adapter at the other end. Not much bulkier than an XLR to just about anything else adapter.
The new adapter provides up to 60dB, providing enough power and volume for most mic options, including those hungry condenser models. The company says it will also be the perfect pairing for the Shure SM7B as well–a popular option for broadcast/podcast and great for vocals.
It is fully supported by the ShurePlus MOTIV Desktop app which provides the user with a number of tools and features to make sure the recorded or streamed audio goes well. Options like EQ management, compression, auto-leveling, and more. The interface can even receive firmware updates as needed.
What is really nice is that it costs less than the Cloud LIfter at just $129. Not by much, but the savings are noticeable and you get the same effect plus the USB interface in a small compact adapter. No bulky interface in the mix. Just a small adapter with a USB cable to run between it and your computer.
