Denon’s DRA-900H stereo network receiver promises premium, high-resolution audio and 8K video smarts, while the Denon AVR-X1800H 7.2-channel audio/video receiver is designed for mid-sized rooms.
Following last month’s release of its new S-series triumvirate, Denon announces its first-ever stereo network receiver in the DRA-900H, which, we are told, builds on the DRA-800H with the latest HDMI tech. Additionally, the brand is launching the AVR-X1800H that, we assume, replaces the AVR-X1700H of 2021. You can also opt for the AVR-X1800H DAB, adding a built-in DAB tuner.

The AVR-X1800H sports many premium features, including support for 8K via three compliant HDMI inputs; several next-gen gaming technologies, including Variable Refresh Rate, Auto Low Latency Mode and 4K@120Hz; and network streaming up to 24-bit/192kHz via Wi-Fi, AirPlay 2 and, of course, Denon’s comprehensive HEOS multi-room platform. There’s also Bluetooth for your wireless streaming convenience.
As well as the trio of 8K/60Hz HDMI inputs (and single ARC/eARC output), the AVR-X1800H offers a further three HDMI connections, two pairs of RCAs, opticals and a moving magnet phono input.
However, where its cost-cutting does show a little is that it maxes out at 5.2.2 if you plan on using it for Dolby Atmos/DTS:X; otherwise, you can squeeze 7.2 from it. That said, it boasts 80 watts-per-channel output across those seven channels, can handle two-source/two-zone audio, and Audyssey’s MultEQ XT room-correction technology.
DENON DRA-900H
Making the company’s introduction to stereo network receivers, the DRA-900H is tasked with bridging the gap between legacy hi-fi systems and modern audiovisual technology.
Here, you get a 2.2-channel AV receiver delivering up to 145 W per channel. The DRA-900H is equipped with six HDMI inputs, three of which, and one output, are capable of 8K video. There is also eARC connectivity, making it simple to hook up your TV. Further connectivity is offered, including CD, Phono (MM), USB, COAX, a pair of Optical, Bluetooth, and DAB+/FM, alongside the ability to connect up to two pairs of speakers for A/B switching, parallel playback, or bi-wiring, and dual subwoofer outputs to send balanced bass throughout the room.
The DRA-900H can stream music wirelessly across compatible HEOS components from the likes of Spotify, Amazon Music HD, Tidal and more, with support for ALAC, FLAC, and WAV at up to 192kHz/24 bit, as well as 2.8/5.6 MHz DSD files as well as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Apple AirPlay 2.
Denon’s DRA-900H (£799/ €899) is available from September, while the AVR-X1800H (£699/ €799) and AVR-X1800H DAB (£749/ €849) are available from October.
