Microsoft is reportedly pleased with the success of Hi-Fi Rush and plans to reinvest in developer Tango Gameworks. Although the sales numbers for Hi-Fi Rush may not have met expectations, Microsoft sees potential in Tango Gameworks and believes that the studio will continue to excel.
According to industry insider Jeff Grubb, Microsoft is extremely happy with Tango Gameworks and wants them to have a bright future. Despite Hi-Fi Rush falling short in terms of sales, Microsoft still has confidence in the studio.
Grubb also speculated that Microsoft may have had high hopes for bigger titles like Halo Infinite to generate significant revenue through micro-transactions. Since that didn’t happen, smaller releases like Hi-Fi Rush were burdened with the expectation of making up for it. However, Grubb believes that if the acquisition of Activision Blizzard King goes through, Call of Duty could fill the role of a major revenue generator, allowing for more experimental titles to thrive.
Grubb did mention that he felt Microsoft’s decision-making process regarding game management seemed “sloppy”. However, Aaron Greenberg, the Vice President of Xbox Games Marketing, clarified that Hi-Fi Rush was a breakout hit for Microsoft and exceeded expectations in all key measurements.
Overall, Microsoft’s satisfaction with Hi-Fi Rush and their intention to reinvest in Tango Gameworks demonstrates their commitment to supporting the studio and nurturing their potential for future success.
